Why You Should Choose LED Lighting Strips
LEDs are slowly replacing the traditional lighting bulbs we were used to; they just have many applications and have many advantages over the latter. Thanks to improvements in technology things like the LED lighting strips are not only used in task lighting, decorative purposes or accent lighting. Besides their application in decorative purposes, task lighting or accent lighting, they are now being used for indirect lighting application, UV inspection, and growing plants among other things thanks to advances in technology. Here are some of the other pros of LED lighting strips.
Come in a variety of colors
Thanks to LEDs you no longer have to be contented with the monotony of using a single color for your lighting. Besides the standard white LEDs, they also come as RGB consisting of one red, one green, and one blue LED. On top of the standard white, there are also the RGB LEDs. They are therefore advantageous especially when you want to create some lighting color effects.
Longer life expectancy
Having lighting system that has a shorter life span is both costly and inconvenient; you need one that will serve you for longer. LEDs lack this buzz, they are simply immovable hence the name Solid State Lighting (SSL). The LEDs don’t have this buzz but rather remain immovable and hence have improved durability.
The common feature of LED lighting strips is there flexibility. They can be bent along different angles and be attached to undulating surfaces with ease unlike the traditional bulbs which are enclosed with a fragile glass. Unlike the traditional bulbs which are enclosed by some inflexible and fragile glass, the LEDs are on a flexible ‘ribbon” circuit board that can be molded into a number of angles and placed on different surfaces.
Everyone dreads huge monthly bills arising from their electricity consumption, however, it doesn’t have to be so, not if you can help it. Unlike the other lighting where you are charged per hour for the watts used, lighting strips are calculated on a per meter basis. A meter of LEDs uses about 7.2 watts which is a half of the 15 watts a fluorescent tube uses.
Luminaries requiring high voltage to light up usually pose a great risk to users especially the elderly and the children. They for example use a low voltage 12V DC power supply voltage. This reduces any potential safety hazards for the kids and the elderly. A typical LED lighting strip uses a low power supply voltage of about 12V. They also use the low voltage 12 Volts DC power supply voltage.
The above advantages just demonstrate how it may just be the right time to consider the LED lighting strip for your home or business. On top of it all, they are usually easy to install.
