The Difference Between LED and Neon Lights
Big companies have been, for a long time, the only ones using digital advertising. However, small business have joined the bandwagon and are leaving nothing to chance when it these opportunities for creative and effective advertising. However, anybody using digital display advertising for the first time would be in a dilemma between choosing an LED display or a neon display. If you are in a similar position, which one should you go for?
Neon and LED lights both have a share of advantages and disadvantages. The majority of these factors focus on installation, maintenance costs, and the prices. There are also some other factors that as a buyer you need to consider personally since most of them are down to personal preference. These include the space taken by the signs, brightness, and whether or not the can handle animations.
Since LED lights are about 10 percent cheaper compared to neon lights, they will be a great bargain for anybody looking to buy quality high performing lights and signs at a budget friendly price. 10% may not be too much of a deal when you look at it as the difference from buying one product, however, when you purchase in bulk, it makes more sense. In addition, you’ll find neon lights to be much more difficult to maintain compared to LEDs.
It’s easier to ship and install LED lights because they are lighter and thinner compared to neon signs. Also, they don’t take much space as neon lights would. Once installed, you won’t worry about cleaning them since they don’t need regular maintenance and they retain their brightness long enough.
Another benefit of LED lights over neon ones is that they consume less energy. In fact, they are said to consume up to 8% less electricity than neon lights do. For anybody who needs lighting that doesn’t pollute the environment that much, LED would be a great choice. Additionally, you don’t have to worry about the tubes breaking and emitting toxic fumes. Another advantage is that they don’t get hot when in use for long. You’ll also have no worries about them flickering or burning out easy.
When it comes to display, LED signs are clearer than neon. When you look at neon lights from a distance, they normally appear blurred while LED lights retain their brightness. You can view them from a long distance away and still see the animations if they are on the lights. Since LED lights are very bright in nature, they are rarely affected by glaring sunlight meaning that your signs will show even on the hottest day.
Despite neon lights being used widely in signage advertising, LEDs are much better. Not only are they excellent for signage containing animation, but also last long.
